چکیده

We study epidemic threshold properties in a scale-free random graph model. We show via a branching process approximation that the divergence of the second moment of the degree distribution is equivalent to the absence of an epidemic threshold. We study further the relation between diameter and epidemic threshold. Absence of an epidemic threshold happens precisely when a positive fraction of the nodes form a cluster of bounded diameter.

Thresholds for epidemic outbreaks in finite scale-free networks.

We numerically investigate the existence of a threshold for epidemic outbreaks in a class of scale-free networks characterized by a parametri- cal dependence of the scaling exponent, influencing the convergence of fluctuations in the degree distribution. In finite-size networks, finite thresholds for the spreading of an epidemic are always found. However, both the thresholds and the behavior of...

Absence of epidemic thresholds in a growing adaptive network

The structure of social contact networks strongly influences the dynamics of epidemic diseases. In particular the scale-free structure of real-world social networks allows unlikely diseases with low infection rates to spread and become endemic. However, in particular for potentially fatal diseases, also the impact of the disease on the social structure cannot be neglected, leading to a complex ...

An assessment of preferential attachment as a mechanism for human sexual network formation.

Recent research into the properties of human sexual-contact networks has suggested that the degree distribution of the contact graph exhibits power-law scaling. One notable property of this power-law scaling is that the epidemic threshold for the population disappears when the scaling exponent rho is in the range 2 < rho < or = 3. This property is of fundamental significance for the control of ...

Epidemic spreading with nonlinear infectivity in weighted scale-free networks

In this paper, we investigate the epidemic spreading for SIR model in weighted scale-free networks with nonlinear infectivity, where the transmission rate in our analytical model is weighted. Concretely, we introduce the infectivity exponent α and the weight exponent β into the analytical SIR model, then examine the combination effects of α and β on the epidemic threshold and phase transition. ...

Dynamics of epidemic diseases on a growing adaptive network

The study of epidemics on static networks has revealed important effects on disease prevalence of network topological features such as the variance of the degree distribution, i.e. the distribution of the number of neighbors of nodes, and the maximum degree. Here, we analyze an adaptive network where the degree distribution is not independent of epidemics but is shaped through disease-induced d...
